The State of NM recognizes some of the safety issues that were identified in the safecom although some claims are inconsistent with the facts. As with most initial attack fires, in the early season, it takes time to mobilize resources and equipment. After review of all the dispatch logs, we have no evidence of any denials of equipment or resources by the state. The ICT3 that took over the management of the fire did a good job of identifying the safety issues and mitigating all of them. The dispatch log also mentions that the OSC3 was released form the incident on 4/10/2018. A liaison was assigned to the fire when a delegation of authority was issued to the ICT3.
Additional resources were mobilized (DIVS, SOFT2, communications equipment, copiers and support personnel, IHC). A standing Type 3 IMT was not available in the GACC when the fire exceeded IA.
The State continues to work with our communications department to identify areas around the state with communication problems and hopes to mitigate them in the future. |
