Narrative

Describe in detail what happened including the concern or potential issue, the environment (weather, terrain, fire behavior, etc), and the resulting health issue.

Condition: As supplied from the NIFC cache, the BKR5000 model of portable radio is not natively programmed with scan capability. -There is no SCAN button programmed for quick access. -Setting up Zone Scan through the MENU options does not actually provide a functioning scan capability 48 radio's were affected .

Immediate Action Taken

Reporting Individual : please describe actions you took to correct or mitigate the unsafe/unhealthful event.

Corrective action: All Kit radios must be computer programmed upon arrival with a default program that is configured for the use of scan. This must be done prior to cloning the radios. 48 radio's were affected . when the next batch of communication kits arrive the will also need to be re programmed.
