LMR Actions:
6/17 This is a two-part system with RoIP traffic moving across the network, and Micro Wave links to the radio sites, which is Kanab Hill to Big Springs. Currently there is not a radio tech on the Kaibab, subsequently a tech from the Prescott has traveled six hours to facilitate repair.
Radio tech performed a hard reset of micro link at Kanab Hill, (10.233.14.4) remote access was restored. This is the link that feeds out to Big Springs. Tech checked and reprogrammed all micro links for best optimization at each site. Unable to perform reset remotely as network connection was not stable enough to make changes before dropping connection. Radio traffic from Dry Park to Fredonia is clear and optimal, once traffic is on the network going to Williams Dispatch it is broken and falling out. There are 4 T1 circuits bonded together providing the USDA network to Fredonia SO, where two of the four appear to have been unstable for some time now.
Fiber is at the building and might be an option for cutting over and getting off the T1s.
Network Actions:
6/17 North Kaibab Ranger District has a microwave going to Kanab. There are back-to-back (retransmission) microwaves at Kanab, no networking equipment is at this location, that point to Spring Mountain where USDA does have network equipment. Spring Mountain then has a pair of microwaves that are going to Crazy Jug that are back-to-back (retransmission) microwaves that goes to Dry Park. Dry Park is where the control base is. USDA Network is able to see our Dry Park switch from our other switch at Spring Mountain, but we are unable to ping said switch or ping the microwaves at Dry Park. Everything beyond Spring Mountain is unreachable and cannot reach the Cambium web login pages. 6/20 The 4 T1s were tested at the Kaibab SO. The router is showing them good and up, but four T1s is not adequate for today’s network requirements. The issue we have is the Kaibab SO is one of the Region 3 Rendezvous Point Routers for NRE and it is still awaiting a quote for USDA.Net upgrade per the NRE-FS Telecommunications Management and Control Officers tracker.
The goal is to put this office onto a 100mb service. Since this site is a Regional Rendezvous Point Router for Multicast traffic it will be one of the last locations to be migrated to Lumen.
For ALL USDA/Forest Service IT-related issues/outages: The most efficient means of obtaining assistance with IT difficulties is by opening a ticket with the Forest Service Customer Help Desk (CHD) at 1-866-945-1354 (TTY: 1-800-877-8339). The user/customer should request a ticket be opened, reporting as specifically as possible WHAT system(s) or capabilities were affected, the date and time WHEN they were impacted, WHERE the impact occurred, and WHO can provide additional information that may be required. Please include the ticket number in ALL correspondence related to the issue/outage, including SAFENET if one is initiated
