The Monongahela NF radio technician position has been vacant since 26 Mar 2022. Monongahela NF needs are currently being serviced by the Technician assigned to the Hoosier NF, approx. 450 miles away.

LMR performed a firmware update on equipment that interfaces radios and the network (IP-224s) on 7 October, in preparation for the upcoming network upgrades. Approximately 45 minutes later, Dispatch noted these control stations were not working. Dispatch opened a ticket INC000008328075 on 8 October. LMR completed remote tests and confirmed the system appeared to be working correctly later the same day, so the ticket was placed in monitor status. On 11 October, the LMR Technician performed systems checks and identified certain IP-224 settings were out of adjustment, following the firmware update. Levels were readjusted and the system was confirmed to be working within lower audio levels. On 15 October, a replacement IP-224 was obtained and installed. This did not alleviate the issue. We have attempted to schedule a visit by Technician from Michigan on 12 Nov to further evaluate and restore the system.

For ALL USDA/Forest Service IT-related issues/outages:
The most efficient means of obtaining assistance with IT difficulties is by opening a ticket with the Forest Service Customer Help Desk (CHD) at 1-866-945-1354 (TTY: 1-800-877-8339). The user/customer should request a ticket be opened, reporting as specifically as possible WHAT system(s) or capabilities were affected, the date and time WHEN they were impacted, WHERE the impact occurred, and WHO can provide additional information that may be required. Please include the ticket number in ALL correspondence related to the issue/outage, including SAFENET if one is initiated.
