CAL FIRE received an Unsafe Practice Report (IIPP-8) filed 10-18-2019 in addition a SAFENET regarding the fire response to "illegal dumping" located North of Ave 66 and East of Martinez Road.

CAL FIRE/ Riverside County Fire Department has documented its concern on numerous occasions via risk vs. gain directives regarding "illegal dump sites" as well responding to hazardous materials incidents.

In addition to firefighter safety, the highest priority, the Department is also concerned with smoke and products of combustion emitted to the general public which in some cases may preclude a “let burn” policy.

It is the continued expectation of the Department that units will respond when dispatched to these incidents regardless of the jurisdiction. The first arriving unit will confirm and identify the type of incident that is underway. As with any incident, any Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) or potential life safety issues will be identified and addressed before incident stabilization begins. The Incident Commander (IC) will develop a plan to address any and all safety concerns not only to first responders but to the citizens of the communities served. If there is fire involving an unknown, or known hazardous commodity, then the fire will be treated as a potential HazMat incident until identified otherwise. In all cases, the proper PPE will be utilized.
