The after market bumper mounted spare tire carrier on some BLM fire equipment is supplied by multiple manufacturers, and some models have experienced issues despite the heavy duty construction of the carrier. Until the National Fire Equipment Program (NFEP) can develop a solution, NFEP recommends removal of the bumper mounted spare tire carrier and secured storage of the spare tire in the bed area of the vehicles. An Equipment Bulletin directing this action will be issued by the BLM Fire and Aviation Directorate in the next few days. |
