Immediate corrective action: to maintain operational readiness, the actions of working through the IMT to provide adequate radios is sufficient in the short term.
Ongoing corrective action:
Contact local FS ALMR coordinator to coordinate reactivating the radios on the ALMR system. (this step has already been completed) Coordinator will notify Regional Operations when the radios are back up and available for use. Fire Managers will also consider a formalized agreement with LE&I for maintenance and activation.
Long term solution/recommendation – Work with CIO to provide a mechanism for support of purchasing ALMR capable radios (both mobile and portables). Additionally, identify a means for providing maintenance, repair and programming for existing ALMR radios and new ALMR radios. Maintenance and programming would/could be provided by CIO with the appropriate support. If CIO is not able to provide this service, an agreement with AK DOF to provide maintenance and programming services could be pursued. |
