| Due to the seriousness of the issues raised in this safenet, the PNW Regional Office Wildland Fire Operations staff undertook and extensive safety review including interviews of multiple layers of leadership involved in this fire. This review concluded that the Railroad Fire in question was managed safely and appropriately. This incident, as any other wildland fire assignment, involved acceptance risks. The review concluded that the leadership on Railroad Fire took the necessary steps to recognize the risks, advise those on the line of the risks, mitigate the risks the lowest possible level and then ensure residual risk was acceptable before taking action. When the crew surfaced safety concerns, the Captain addressed their concerns appropriately. |
