A Forest Service vehicle was parked along the edge of the road adjacent to the burn unit in the edge of unburned fuel. A spot fire happened across the road that was the control line for the prescribed burn. The vehicle was unattended resulting in the driver side tires catching fire. Personnel patrolling the perimeter arrived and suppressed the fire on the vehicle and moved it from the spot fire. Briefing for previous burns vehicle parking had been discussed several times. All weather perimeters were within prescription for the burn unit. No personnel were injured and damage was limited to the Forest Service vehicle. |
