SAFENET Help

What does this database do?

SAFENET is an application intended to provide frontline firefighters with a way to be heard and resolve unsafe situations that occur on the fireline. This database will provide a method for reporting and resolving field situations quickly. The information provided on the form will also help collect important, safety-related data at the national center, to determine long-term trends and problem areas.

Who will use this database?

Anyone can fill out a SAFENET, anytime, to report a valid concern about unsafe situations in fire operations, and document corrective action. SAFENET was primarily intended for wildland fire operations, but can be used to report on activities such as training, and all-hazard events. This database will also be used to accumulate data that will be used to determine long-term trends and problem areas.

How do I submit a new SAFENET?

From the main SAFENET page, locate the link on the left side of your screen titled "Submit SAFENET". You may also follow this link to submit a new SAFENET: https://webapp2.nbc.gov/apps/safenet.nsf/MainTopic?OpenForm (external link)

How do I submit a "Corrective Action"?

First you will need to locate the SAFENET that you want to supply corrective action for. Choose one of the "Views" listed on the left side of the screen. For example: Choose the "View SAFENET" and then choose "By Agency". This will show you a listing of all SAFENET listed by the Agency that submitted it. Choose the SAFENET that you want to supply Corrective Action on. Notice at the top of the SAFENET there is a button labeled "Create Agency Corrective Action".

This will open up a form for you to fill out. This corrective action will be permanently connected to the SAFENET that you chose.
